I never understood these supercar cop cars. what are they going to do with them? Say a guy in a Lambo takes off on the freeway. Are they really goin to chase him down at high speeds? Usually the Interceptor is enough to deal with those 100+Mph chases. If a car is too fast and getting away, the helos are typically fast enough to not lose the car at that point. Even if you needed the speed of the Lambo, I can't ever see a LEO pitting a car with a Lamborghini. "Hey, we got a supercar! Let's go smash it up!"

They are usually cars seized by the police converted into police cars... They are mostly used for show to "prevent" speeding on public roads. So you see them during promotional events at racetrack and things like that. They are not usually used as "police cars" per se...

Thats ridiculous, they don't catch criminals in LA with race pace. Is Lamborghini paying for them as advertising? Given the maintenance costs a Vette in the USA with an LS is a much better idea for a government vehicle if you want faster than average cars.

I get that. All the grade school kids think it's cool, and the Chief's son gets to drive it on patrol every once in a while. Why not sell it at auction or take it to a dealership and sell it to them? It just seems like a useless publicity stunt to me.

Some PDs in the States do use Corvettes and other LSx powered cars. This is only done for glamour purposes.

another thing they use it for (at least in italy) is for organ transport. the lambo's they have do that. so if a patient in hospital a just died, but patient in hospital B can use his heart, but they only have 3 hours to get it in him, they bring the car in to do some high-speed errand runs

That happened in 2009: not to hit some idiot who cut them out they had to hit some parked cars. Two policemen were hurt, but not seriously.
